The Valderiz family owns 60 hectares of organically and sustainably farmed vineyards on the Burgos side of Ribera del Duero. The thing that I enjoy most about this wine is that it has a lot more substance then the majority of the Jovens that we see. Not to say that others are bad, they're delicious and easy drinking, this just offers a bit more. The 2009 Joven was fermented and aged in stainless steel. It offers up an enticing perfume of damp earth, espresso, violets, and blackberry. On the palate it has serious depth and concentration, mouth-filling fruit, and a forward personality. A whole lot-a wine for the money.
