2008 Tinto Pesquera is a bold, earthy red wine that combines ripe, dark berry fruit character with firm barrel tannins. It can age well for decades. Tinto Pesquera was the wine that really brought attention to the Ribera del Duero region twenty years ago when the only other famous wine from this now well established region was the high end luxury wine from Vega Sicilia. Alejandro Fernandez made a name for himself and set a standard of quality in Ribera del Duero that lives on to this day.
91 points from The Wine Advocate: "The dark ruby-colored 2008 Tinto Pesquera exhibits an inviting nose of cedar, spice box, mineral, violets, and blackberry. This is followed by a ripe, racy, nicely proportioned style of Tempranillo with excellent concentration and length. Give it 2-3 years to fully blossom and drink it from 2013 to 2023."
