Palacio de Fefinanes, the oldest winery in the Rias Baixas region, makes wine solely from the local Albarino grape. In addition to the classic Fefinanes Albarino the winery also produces this rare (4000 bottles in total) barrel aged version that spends a brief few months in second use sherry casks. The wine is called "1583" in honor of the birth date of the original Viscount of Fefinanes, Gonzalo Sarmiento Valladares. The crisp precision that the regular version of Fefiñanes is known for makes a repeat appearance in the 1583 Albarino, supplemented by some elegant and well integrated barrel character for added depth and textural complexity.
