Lopez de Heredia, one of the most traditional bodegas in Rioja makes this wine from 65% Tempranillo, 25% Garnacha and the remaining 10% is a blend of Mazuelo and Graciano. Aged in cask for less time than the iconic Vina Tondonia and Vina Bosconia, this 'crianza' wine is ready to drink earlier than the other Lopez de heredia wines. Taut tannins, bright fruit and an old-school dusty finish is what Cubillo is all about.
90 points, The International Wine Cellar: "Light red color. Seductive aromas of red berries, cherry, Asian spices and smoky herbs. Fleshy and sweet, offering vivid red fruit flavors and slow-mounting ripeness. Leaves rich cherry and cola notes behind on the long, velvety finish. I'd drink this now for its seductively plush fruit."
