2004 La Rioja Alta Vina Arana Reserva - Rioja

La Rioja Alta is one of the most famous and influential producers in Rioja.  Originally founded in 1890, the winery has remained staunchly traditional in its winemaking.  This wine hails from the fantastic 2004 vintage and it's, well, AMAZING.  The nose is full of menthol, cherries, and sweet earth.  On the palate the bright red fruit flavors linger but are joined by hints of nutmeg and citrus.  Really special juice.
