1996 Vega Sicila Unico

Vega Sicilia's Unico is the iconic Spanish wine. It is considered the top wine produced and Spain and under Mariano Garcia's direction from the mid 60's until the late 90's, this received amazing reviews.

Medium purple in color, it emits a lovely perfume of smoke, mineral, Asian spices, balsamic, and assorted black fruits. Elegant, savory, and intense on the palate, it has enough underlying structure to evolve for another decade and drink well through 2036."

Pungent herbal notes build with aeration and repeat on the palate, adding complexity to the deep, ripe cherry and dark berry liqueur flavors. Remarkably elegant wine with precise cherry/berry flavors and a slow-mounting mocha quality on the long, sappy finish. There's a very impressive interplay of fruit and tannins here."
