1995 Unico - Vega Sicilia

Vega Sicilia's Unico is the iconic Spanish wine. If there was a 1st growth in Spain, this would be it.  It is considered the top wine produced and Spain and under Mariano Garcia's direction from the mid 60's until the late 90's, this received amazing reviews.  The Vega Sicilia Unico 1995 is from a superb vintage in Spain and, although gorgeous now, this wine has a lifetime ahead of it.  In addition to the review below from The Wine Advocate, this also received 94 points from both Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar & Wine Spectator.

97 points Wine Advocate, "Opaque purple in color, it has aromatic complexity which nearly defies words. There are notes of earth, licorice, hard wood charcoal, and black currants. Full-bodied, and powerful, the wine has beautiful balance with a multi-dimensional character and the structure to last for 25-40 years."
