The 1985 Smith Woodhouse Vintage Port is drinking superbly at this point. Good sweet red cherry and berry fruit, balanced by mineral, licorice, spice and smoke. The tannins have softened but they still give the wine a firm backbone. Traditionally Vintage Port was aged at least 20 years before being consumed and although that is not often the case anymore, there really is nothing that compares to an aged Vintage Port.
