1978 Colheita - Krohn

The 1978 Colheita Tawny Port from is a single vintage tawny that has been aged in cask almost 30 years before bottled.  Sweet notes of creme brulee, hazelnut and peanut brittle, orange zest and maple syrup.  Long and impressive this is almost 30% off the regular price due to the distributor trying to sell through their inventory.

Krohn was founded by two Norwegians in 1875, but is now wholly Portuguese owned. They are another port house that specializes in Colheitas, single vintage port that is aged for a minimum of 7 years in cask. It is bottled only on release so the older vintages have been in cask for substantially longer than 7 years. The older Colheitas exhibit flavors of brown sugar, creme caramel, candied orange zest and spice. Outstanding wines that will last for several weeks to months once opened.
