1970 Oloroso - Gonzalez Byass

This single vintage 1970 Oloroso from Gonzalez Byass is incredibly rare.  In 1998 they released only 537 bottles of this single cask of Oloroso.
Sherry as we know it is made by the Solera method, which is a blending of multiple vintages over time.  What this gives you is consistent quality from year to year and allows for some amazing older wines to continue to be released in small quantities.  This is an exeption to the entire solera system.  Historically all of the sherry houses have feathered off a particularly oustanding barrel or two of sherry and allowed it to age.  These are typcially for the family and friends to enjoy over time and are rarely seen on the market. 
Just over a year ago we located a single bottle in Europe and recently sold it.  We just returned from a trip to Europe and found a source that had 3 more that have been impeccably stored. Extremely limited.
