The 1959 Don PX Gran Reserva, from Bodegas Toro Albala in Montilla-Moriles. is one of the rarest of Spanish dessert wines. The hand written label, made of cork, imndicates that this is a linited edition series of 1780 bottles fom the 1959 vintage. Current release of this famous wine is 1982, so this is a decidedly older wine that still maintains the dark color, fig/date/rasin fruit character and bright balancing acidity that these wines are known for. This is, hands down, one of the best wines for pairing with chocolate that we know of. The bottles are all signed and dated (etched in the glass actually) by the winemaker and come in their own hand made wooden box. A very special wine for a special occasion.
